What I believe, according to my own experience, is that a calm, peaceful mind is a very important element for sustaining the body in a balanced way. -- 14th Dalai Lama
What is the meaning of "Reiki"?
The word "Reiki" is made of two Japanese words - "Rei" meaning "God's Wisdom or The Higher Power" and "Ki", which is "Life Force Energy". Therefore, Reiki is translated to mean "Spiritually Guided Life Force Energy". This energy is the life energy that flows through and around all living things. If our "life force energy" is low or blocked, we are more vulnerable to illness. When our "life force energies" are strong and flowing freely, we are healthy and balanced in body, emotion, mind and spirit.
How does Reiki work?
"Life force energy" flows through our bodies via meridians and chakras. It also flows around us in what is called our aura. The aura and chakras are known as the human subtle energy system. During a Reiki session, there is a transfer of "life force energy" through the Reiki practitioner's hands to the client. The Reiki energy gently and effectively opens and clears any blocks of the chakras and the human energy system, thus promoting natural self healing. Reiki energy is not guided by the practitioner as it has an innate wisdom to guide itself to where it is needed.
Is Reiki a religion?
Reiki is spiritual in nature, but is not a religion or affiliated with any religious practice.
